The Siemens-Schuckert GU 365/30 was a German electric motor used as the powerplant for the WW2 U-boot Type XXI submarine. It was designed and developed by Siemens-Schuckertwerke and built between 1944 and 1945. It was used both as torque power for propulsion and as a generator to charge the batteries. Thus, it was a double-acting motor-generator machine.
The Siemens-Schuckert GU 365/30 was used when sailing underwater. Since it was very silent, with a minimum noise level, the Allied destroyers could not detect it. The electric voltage output when it worked as a generator was 730 KW, but when it was used as a motor, the output was 1,840 KW. After WW2, it would be used by the German industry for power generation.
